After joining forces with Elise we continued with her zoo idea and to create a documentary revolving around a current issue: Should we keep animals in enclosures? and the importance of Zoo's/ knowledge they have provided us with about the care of animals. This has a deeper meaning therefore could be quite effective as a documentary - tell a story almost. For this idea, we needed avaliable locations and therefore contacted relevant animal visitor attractions.
Bristol Zoo - http://www.bristolzoo.org.uk/ Longleat - https://www.longleat.co.uk/ Noah's Ark - http://www.noahsarkzoofarm.co.uk/ Court farm - http://www.courtfarmcountrypark.co.uk/ Puxton Park - http://www.puxton.co.uk/ All very different local/city establishments that are habitats to animals. My overall view of Zoo's will come across as positive establishments which enriches society in factual knowledge, lesuire and a great revolation througout history. With my idea, I began to build a narrative structure in which i wanted to portray my 5 minute piece in the style of Todorov (set an equilibrium and then a destruction) As my main structure here are some of my BASIC for and against arguments are: For: - The research and amount of analysis we've found when studying animals in habitats - The leisure side - The amount of care and well being the animals receive Against - Is it really fair to keep animals in small proximity when it is so un-natural for their species - Is it fair for companies to make a profit off of animals being locked up and used only for human entertainment - Does the process of capturing wild animals, turn them aggressive - For example: Tillikum who is the killer whale that killed their trainer at sea world and also Harambe, whom earlier this year had to be shot in fear of endangering a small child.

Todorovs Narrative Theory;
1:Equilibrium 2:Disruption to equilibrium 3:Recognition 4:Resolution 5:Equilibrium In my documentary which I am planning, it is important to look at Todorovs Narrative Theory as it will show me how I could structure it. Looking at Catfish and Amy, I have analysed where each stage I feel occurs in the documentary (or film). Catfish: 1: Introducing Nev in the Documentary (Equilibrium starts before the creating of the film) 2: Nev starts to receive a series of paintings from a 'young girl' - one of his fans 3: When the audience and Nev realised 'Megan' wasn't the one singing in the videos (songs off Youtube) 4: When Nev goes to the farm to fix the issue of the Catfish 5: When Nev shaves his head and continues his day to day life Amy: 1: The beginning of the film showing Amy with her family, moving out of her house, starting her career 2: When Blake comes into Amy's life 3: Talking to her friends telling her they want nothing to do with her and she needs help 4: Getting sent to rehab 5: Death of Amy After deciding last week to join forces with Elise after deciding that my idea wasn't going to have a good structure and I was concerned there was no deeper meaning to it. This is our presentation and we gathered feedback on our idea after presenting to our class. I felt like Elise's idea of Zoo's had a good appeal of it because no matter what footage you capture - it still has a deeper meaning of captivity of animals in cages. This is something we hope to address in the documentary. After getting feedback from my documentary and presenting to our class - I made the executive decision to join forces with Elise on her Zoo style documentary. I felt that my Grassroots Football idea had potential but I was worried that I wouldn't have a deeper meaning to talk about. The zoo though has a deeper meaning with the captivity of animals. Elise has already started to plan hers but I will add to the decisions as we now start to plan our documentary together.
